Portsmouth Community 257 Locks Heath 260 What a thrilling game we had this evening , Monday 16th June . Portsmouth Community won the toss and elected to bat . There was some very tidy bowling from the LocksHeath team , and Portsmouth scored just 1 boundary in the whole innings . We took 2 wickets with Tom Griffiths getting 1-11 in his 3 overs , and Greg Feltham getting 1-9 from his 2overs . Sam Kirby bowled well to only concede 4 off his 2 overs , but pride of place goes to Pip Atton who bowled his 2 overs without conceding a run . Well done, Pip . LocksHeath opened well with Tom & Ben Thomas putting on 17 for the first pair , and then Portsmouth Community bowled some really tight overs to restrict the next pairings to 5 , 12 , and 11 . In these pairs , both Daniel Oliver (7) and Sam Pinkus (8) hit boundaries , and Pip got a 5 !! This left us with 13 needed to win with Edward Williamson and Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain coming to the wicket . They quickly hit a boundary each , but then disaster struck , and they were both caught out off successive balls ..... This left us still needing 10 off 2 overs , and some clever running , and sneaky singles meant that Christian faced the last ball with us 2 runs in the lead .....He clipped the ball off his legs ,and we won by 3.... Great game ... Thanks also to the opposition who played very well , and it was a really nice game to umpire , even if it got a bit stressful in the last couple of overs ..... Well done Team... |

Match Played on Wednesday 18th June at Bath Lane , Fareham Fareham 284 Locks Heath 288 For the second time in 3 days , the match has gone to the last ball with Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain having to survive the last ball of the game to guide Locks Heath to a close victory .... Fareham batted first , and through very tight bowling , we restricted their first 3 pairs to 10 , 5 , and 8 . Fareham then scored quite freely , and finished at a very respectable & challenging score of 284 . Christian and Sam Pinkus took a couple of good catches , and Tom Griffiths , Sam Kirby , and Sam Pinkus all took a wicket . William Hughes only conceded 2 runs and 2 wides in his spell , and Greg Feltham was top wicket taker with 2-12 . LocksHeath started well with our batting with Tom ( 7 runs ) and Edward Williamson ( 14 runs ) putting on 29 for the first pair , and we kept the scores positives until we got to the last pair with Will and Christian needing to score 32 to win ...... They scored 35 in their 4 overs with Christian top scoring with 17 , with 10 coming off the last over . Boundaries were scored by Edward (3) / Tom / Daniel Oliver , and Christian (3).. Well Done Boys ...... but these close games aren't good for the blood pressure !! See you on Saturday. |

Result from Sunday 22nd June 2008 - LocksHeath v Gosport Gosport 219 LocksHeath 353 LocksHeath won by 134 runs On a gloriously sunny Sunday morning , LocksHeath U11s entertained Gosport at home . Gosport batted first and lost wickets on a regular basis through to some good , tight bowling . We had 2 players making their debuts , and they both bowled very well with Tristan Innes-Kruger getting 1-6 from his 2 overs ( with a very good c&b ) , and Tom O'Hare getting 0-6 from his 2 . 6 bowlers got wickets , with Greg Feltham getting 1-3 from his 2 , and Tom Griffiths getting 2-1 from his 3 overs . One of Tom's wickets was due to a fabulous one-handed catch by Edward Williamson in the covers . Sam Kirby . Harry Stamper , and Aakash Choudhry all got a wicket . William Hughes also had a great day behind the stumps , and it was the first time this season that we didn't concede any byes / leg byes.... Chasing 219 , LocksHeath started well with Tom G & Aakash scoring 21 in their 4 overs . Will & Tristan then put on 37 , and Sam/Harry & Tom O / Greg all posted partnerships in excess of 20 , before Edward Williamson & Daniel Oliver added a great 48 in the last 4 overs . Tom G / Will / Tristan / Harry / Greg / Daniel / Edward all hit boundaries , with Edward hitting 8 boundaries in his 37 ...well batted . We only lost 1 wicket in our 20 overs which was an excellent all-round batting performance from the boys. We finished on 353 , which is our highest score of the season . It was good to play in the sunshine . Well played . Mark |
